Friday, 11-29-13, Nineteen Mantas @ Garden Eel Cove.
Saw several Mantas on the afternoon dive including Shirley and Renata.
On the night dive I saw ten females = Renata, Shirley, Delany, Vicky, Koie,
Melaineh, Margo, Kailey, Mango, and Peg. Nine males = Blain, Ralph's,
Bob, Rusty, Ho, Eli, Hayden, Ottis and Grayer.
Plankton was a 3+.
There were seventeen boats Jack's x 3, Big Isle x 3, KOA x 2, Miss Mojo,
Splashers, Neptune Charlie's, Kona Honu, Lobo del Mar, Aloha Kona, Kamanu,
Coral Sea Adventures, Wicked Wahine.

Had at least four bottle nose dolphins on the night dive too.

During the afternoon dive the wind was blowing pretty hard and a few boats
dropped anchor even though there was at least one mooring available. If
the chain isn't long enough and the anchor not heavy enough or the wind
just too strong, the anchor may drag though the sand and in this case end
up on the coral where the longfin anthias lives.

As a community we need to police ourselves to insure the health and safety
of the mantas, the ecosystem, the divers and the industry. Maybe use a
mooring, tie up to someone or get a bigger chain and anchor.[image: Inline
