<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto">Monday Feb 24<br><blockquote type="cite"><div dir="ltr"><div>Off of Alae Point Hilo Bay</div><div>6:30 am </div><div>I could see a plume or discrete white cloud in/under the water about 20 feet from the shore in 5-10feet deep water. The plume was about 10x10 feet. The surf was flat and the water calm. At first I thought it was sea foam that is commonly seen running along current lines. But it was too white and evenly colored like a big white plastic bag or jelly fish. </div><div><br></div><div>Then I noticed the wing tips and movement of several Manta Rays of various sizes, maybe 10. They were swimming around about a 100sq yd area for about an hour. Then I had to go to work....</div><div><br></div><div>I would like to know what the white blob was? An amniotic sac? Plankton?</div><div><br></div><div>I have seen Manta Rays scuba diving in Keaukaha, while surfing at Honolii and one jump out of the water from our house once. This sighting was a definitely a special moment.
